I first learned of this book after I spoke with a dude who used vitamin d also known as the sun vitamin to become med free with crohn's disease. I was quite curious to finding about more about this and did a search on amazon and the book popped up. I was so intrigued by this book I read it in 2 days and it made so much sense. James Dowd does such an excellent job showing the reader how important vitamin d is and why most of rarely get our daily requirement of this vitamin. He actually educates you to realize that vitamin d is actually not a vitamin at all but a hormone......the things we learn lol This book gives a lot of examples of how people dramatically improve their conditions (many which are autoimmune) through vitamin d supplements and diet modification. Since Dr Dowd is a rheumatologist many of the cases involve people with arthritis but this is great news because most treatments that address the underlying issues with arthritis improve the lives of people with inflammatory bowel diseases. I think anyone who suffers with an autoimmune disease like Crohns, Colitis, arthritis, etc should give this book a try as it has the potential to change your life. I have been taking larger doses of vitamin d3 (7000-9000) for the past few years and noticed a big difference within the first few months.
