I started off by grabbing a large calendar (I mean those huge desk calendars) I got it at Wal-Mart I believe. I kept track of everything I could think of: how many bowel movements, blood and mucus in my stool, how bloated I was, how many farts I had.. I'm joking about this one I just rated my gas and indicated if it was smelly or not, I listed all the food I ate in the day, and I also listed any other occurring symptom: aching joints, back pain, night sweats, skin rashes etc. When you start keeping track of the stuff you are doing you will see patterns develop: what things you ate in the last few days that are giving you Diarrhea, or foods that may make you feel a flare is coming on and many others. The best thing about keeping track of as much as possible is that it will allow you to tweak & manipulate things so you can actually see better results in the future. Many people that I spoke with who began to do this seen their results increase drastically! You will be amazed when you actually "see" the things that trigger your IBD and slow you healing of Ulcerative Colitis & Crohn s Disease. For anyone who is looking at healing Colitis & Crohn s disease this is a fundamental part of getting better. Keeping track of your diet and progress will allow you to heal so much faster. After researching alternative IBD protocols I decided I was going to start off with The Specific Carbohydrate diet (SCD DIET) and thought it would be great if I could track my monthly progress and adjust accordingly.
